Abstract

A new species of Carex (Cyperaceae) is described and illustrated from austral South
America. Carex subfuegiana (sect. Divisae) is a rhizomatous species that occurs in Argentine Patagonia, where it grows in moist to wet sites. In addition, the status and distribution of the closely-related, but more northerly-occurring C. macrorrhiza is discussed here, and a lectotype is chosen for that name. Carex ecuadorica is delated from the Argentine Flora
