new species of Marcgravia (Marcgraviaceae) from the Colombian Amazonia

Abstract

The Marcgraviaceae is a small-sized neotropical family with 8 genera and about 110 species, mainly distributed in the Colombian Amazonia, Costa Rica and Andean Colombian and Peruvian montane rain forest. During the study of Colombian Amazonian species of Marcgraviaceae, a new species, Marcgravia yukunarum, was discovered; it is described and illustrated below. This species occurs in the Araracuara Region (Middle Caquetá, Colombian Amazonia), and belongs to subgenus Plagiothalamium.
